Meet the Administrative Team

Dr. Kelly Hjorth
Dr. Kelly Hjorth Olsen has dedicated over 15 years to serving as a special education administrator within both general and special education school districts. She began her career as a special education teacher, working in K-12 classrooms with students with a wide range of needs, including behavioral and emotional disabilities, intellectual disabilities, autism, learning disabilities, and other exceptionalities.
Dr. Hjorth Olsen earned her bachelor's degree from Illinois State University, followed by a Master of Business Administration from Keller Graduate School. She later completed her Ed.D. in Special Education, with a focus on students with low-incidence disabilities and the implementation of effective reading programs.
Throughout her career, she has held several administrative roles, including Director of Student Services, Director of Instructional Services, Program Supervisor, and Low Incidence Specialist. Among these, her role as Principal of Fairhaven has been her most fulfilling. Dr. Hjorth Olsen is deeply passionate about supporting students with autism and their families, working collaboratively to promote independence, foster communication, and implement strategies for emotional regulation.
She is a dynamic leader who enjoys guiding her teams in problem-solving and exploring innovative approaches to meet the diverse needs of students. Dr. Hjorth Olsen also values creating fun and meaningful experiences for both her students and staff, cultivating a positive and engaging learning environment.

Amy Slobodecki
Mrs. Slobodecki serves as Assistant Principal, collaborating with Dr. Hjorth, faculty, staff, and the broader school community to create a supportive and inclusive environment. Her mission is to empower students to achieve personal excellence, strengthen their communication skills, and develop self-regulation strategies, equipping them to become compassionate and capable global citizens.
With nearly 20 years of diverse educational experience, Mrs. Slobodecki brings extensive expertise and dedication to her role. She began her career as a general education classroom teacher before focusing the majority of her professional journey on special education and leadership roles. Over the years, she has supported students with a wide range of exceptionalities, including autism, specific learning disabilities, behavioral and emotional challenges, and intellectual disabilities. Her commitment to understanding and addressing diverse learning needs inspired her to pursue advanced degrees in elementary and special education, reading specialization, and educational leadership.
Mrs. Slobodecki is passionate about inspiring students and empowering staff to create an environment where everyone can thrive and succeed.
Outside of her professional life, Mrs. Slobodecki enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters. Together, they love outdoor activities such as boating, swimming, and playing with their dogs. She is also deeply committed to lifelong learning and embraces opportunities for growth and new challenges.
Tiffany Alvarado
Tiffany Alvarado is in her first year as an Administrative Assistant at Fairhaven Therapeutic Public Day Program, where she provides vital administrative support to ensure the program operates smoothly. Drawing on her extensive experience in data management and team leadership, Tiffany plays a key role in helping Fairhaven achieve its mission of delivering high-quality, individualized services to students.
Prior to joining Fairhaven, Tiffany worked as a Supervisor and Senior Data Specialist at Consolidated Hospitality Supply. In that role, she led a team of three, trained cross-functional teams on SAP data processes, and ensured data integrity by overseeing material lifecycle management and resolving data discrepancies. Tiffany’s expertise in SAP, Excel, and business systems, along with her experience in process management and customer support, makes her a valuable asset to the Fairhaven team.
